My Design Approach

A practical framework for building clear, aligned, and reusable learning experiences.

My instructional design process focuses on clarity, alignment, and structured progression. I design learning experiences that begin with learner needs, connect directly to measurable outcomes, and support understanding through guided practice and refinement.

While much of my applied work centers on technical and abstract topics, this process is adaptable across disciplines and teaching formats.

Needs Analysis  →  Outcome Alignment  →  Module Structure  →  Practice & Feedback  →  Implementation  →  Revision

The process is iterative. Feedback and observation inform ongoing improvement.

1. Needs Analysis

  • Identify learner background and prior knowledge
  • Clarify instructional challenges or performance gaps
  • Review delivery context and technical constraints

2. Learning Outcomes & Alignment

  • Define measurable learning outcomes
  • Align activities and assessments to those outcomes
  • Make expectations and success criteria clear

3. Module Structure

  • Organize content into scaffolded, manageable parts
  • Sequence learning from foundational to applied
  • Use visuals and media intentionally, not decoratively

4. Practice & Feedback

  • Design guided practice tied to the learning goals
  • Include prompts that support reasoning, not just recall
  • Build in feedback and reflection points

5. Implementation & Review

  • Organize materials clearly within the course platform
  • Check accessibility, consistency, and navigation
  • Revise based on learner performance and feedback

Sustainable Learning Design

I aim to create learning materials that are clear, reusable, and easy to refine over time. Strong alignment and modular structure make it easier to improve a course without rebuilding it from scratch.
